Rotary recognizes 4 more top students

The March Rotary students of the month are (l-r) Katelynn Crow, Christian Hughes, Billy Brown, and Carlee Lysaght.

The March Rotary students of the month are Katelynn Crow, Christian Hughes, Billy Brown, and Carlee Lysaght.

Katelynn, 17 and the daughter of Michelle Crow, is ranked No. 109 in her class at Azle High with a grade point average of 92.22.

She is actively involved in her church’s youth group.
The athletic Katelynn has played volleyball, basketball, and track for the Lady Hornets.

She is undecided on her college plans currently.

Christian, 18, is ranked tenth at AHS with a GPA of 4.0. The son of Randy and Christian Hughes, he earned a berth on the Academic All-State football team for the Hornets.

He is also a member of the National Honor Society. Christian has worked for the Lions Club, volunteered at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, and the Community Caring Center.

He plans to attend Texas A&M and major in aerospace engineering.

Billy ranks No. 20 in his class with a GPA of 3.96.

The son of Billy Mark and Theresa Brown, Billy took second in a biology academic award while taking Advance Placement courses in world and U.S. history and computer programming.

He has donated to Communities in Schools, tutored peers, collected Box Tops for Education, and raised money for Ronald McDonald House, breast cancer research, and the AHS Drama Club.

Billy plans on attending the University of Texas at Arlington and majoring in software engineering.

Carlee, 16 and daughter of Joe and Donna Lysaght, was the freshman cheerleader of the year and winner of the Lady Hornet track integrity award.

She’s a member of the Rowdies, Peer Assistance & Leadership (PAL), has played powder puff ball, and is a member of the student council on the executive board and is a class officer.

Carlee has taken part in police explorers.

She plans on attending the University of Oklahoma and double majoring in criminal law and psychology.
