Senior Spotlight

Last week I told you about the activities we have going on here every week. In re-reading it, I found I had not mentioned ukulele players.
They meet in Room 4 in the Annex Building on Mondays about noon or 12:30 p.m. and play for a while. There are about 10 or more seniors who show up and have a good time playing and singing.

Come on down and listen to them; you might even decide to join them.
We have about 10 signed up for the AARP Safe Driving class this week.
Our annual Thanksgiving luncheon is Friday, Nov. 22 and we have about 82 signed up – that’s a bunch of seniors!
Monday, Nov. 25 is our No SCS Meal Day. We will be open for regular activities and fellowship.
Just bring a sack lunch or something from one of our local eating places and something to drink.
It’s also our White Elephant Bingo Day, so don’t forget to bring something for that to play.
We weeded out most of the current White Elephant gifts because no one wanted any of them. So, we’re starting all over again.
Tuesday, Nov. 26, the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 2137 will be here to help us honor our veterans. They may have some special guests from one of our local schools to do something, too.
Come down and help us honor them – and if you’re a veteran, call 817-444-0070 and get on our lunch list. Call by 11 a.m. the day before and tell Betty you’re a veteran.
The program begins at 11 so be here by 10:30 to get acquainted with each other if you’ve not been here before.
Our Center will be closed Thursday-Friday, Nov. 28-29.
We stay so busy here; it’s the end of the month before we can turn around.
LaVonda Gamage, one of the VFW Auxiliary ladies, asked me to tell all the seniors they’re invited to their annual Thanksgiving dinner held every year at the post on 730 North.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Azle Senior Center!
