Dr. Heather DeShon, associate professor of geophysics at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences and lead researcher into the cause of a series of earthquakes that occurred in the area six months ago, uses a block of stone, sandpaper, a pulley, and a smartphone seismograph app to show youngsters how earthquakes are measured during the Azle Memorial Library’s Curiosity Alley program Thursday, June 19.
