New procedures for football have been approved by the University Interscholastic League that take effect in August.
The 25-second clock counting down time between plays is gone. The UIL adopted the NCAA 40-second clock.
Teams playing as early as possible in the season will no longer be playing in “Zero Week.” Now, regular season weeks are numbered 1 through 11.
Teams in 6A and 5A – Azle’s new designation is 5-5A – may play junior varsity games on Wednesday if varsities open Week 1 on a Thursday.
