But that is changing, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife.
The Lone Star State once was in the bottom three in America in boat recovery rates compared to vehicle thefts.
But a new TPW investigative unit comprised of nine wardens is changing that.
In its first year of existence, the special team has recovered over 100 boats worth more than $800,000.
