Some wondered why remake a beloved classic. Sci-fi fans sang that song about Total Recall (2012, Movie Man No. 994, a 6) and horror fans really didn’t need another Evil Dead (2013, MM #1,034, 4). It’s true for all genres; if a movie is really a hit initially, why remake it?
One argument for remakes is that cinematic technology can make the original better. Another mention is that it’s a chance to bring a classic to a new generation.
