Lawyer Leonard removed, administrator Polino on paid leave

Two major personnel decisions were the outcome of the Nov. 20 Reno City Council meeting.
Following an hour-and-a-half in executive session and 60 minutes of open discussion, the council removed City Attorney Walt Leonard by a split vote of 3-2, with Mayor Pro Tem John Basham and Council members Larry Trammell and Kerri Jenkins voting for the firing.
Council members Billie Steele and Ken Parnell voted against.
The termination was effective immediately and the result of Leonard’s misconduct and malfeasance, according to Basham and Mayor Eric Hunter.
A vote along the same lines also placed City Administrator Joe Polino on paid administrative leave effective immediately pending further action.
