Fundraiser to benefit 12-year-old Springtown girl battling Leukemia
BY CARLA NOAH STUTSMAN
The 10th Annual Randy’s Benefit Ride is slated for Saturday, May 12.
Azle native David Vaughan, with help from Springtown’s Horton family, has conducted the annual event since 2008 in memory of Randy Horton.
Horton, a mentally-challenged Springtown man, died in October 2007 after a long and hard-fought battle with Leukemia.
This year’s ride will benefit 12-year-old Springtown girl Skylar Jones, a 6th grader who is battling Leukemia.
All proceeds from the ride will go directly to Skylar’s family to help offset medical expenses.
Riders will meet at the Springtown Square by 11 a.m. on May 12 to register.
The cost is $20 per bike, and event t-shirts commemorating the ride are available for $10 each.
A raffle will take place at 11:30 a.m.
The ride will commence at 12 noon from the Square.
It will follow a country route before returning to Springtown, where it will end with a meal at Shinola’s Texas Cafe, 301 Martin Avenue.
