Three fires in 2 days devastate homes

Texas DPS troopers scramble as a CareFlite air ambulance lands at the scene of an inferno in a mobile home in the 100 block of Live Oak Road, off Midway Road, Tuesday morning, Feb. 13. A 31-year-old father of three with burns to his back and face as well as smoke inhalation was transported to Parkland Hospital’s burn unit in Dallas by the helicopter. Parker County ESD 1 Assistant Chief David Pruitt said the man was injured while making sure his wife and children all escaped the burning structure. Multiple fire crews from ESD 1 battled the blaze, including crews from La Junta and Silver Creek fire stations. Meanwhile, crews from Briar-Reno VFD got assistance from Azle FD and ESD1’s Springtown station as they fought a separate structure fire on Miller Road in Reno.Photo by Carla Noah Stutsman

Local fire departments come together to fight Reese Lane blaze

Firefighters from Parker County ESD 1, assisted by Hudson Oaks, Azle, and Briar-Reno Fire Departments fought a fire that engulfed a home in the 700 block of Reese Lane just before 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12. Although the fire was initially attacked offensively, fire crews quickly switched to a defensive strategy. A smoke plume rising from the home could be seen for miles.
