Dechert tourney a success

The 7th Annual Sid Dechert Memorial Golf Tournament again raised funds for improvements at Cross Timbers Golf Course.

The event kicked off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. May 1.

The first place team was Randy Bench, Forrest Bench, Jim Markham, and Jordan Massey.

Runners-up included Tim Hengstler, John Carpenter, James Prince, and Randall Carpenter.

Mark Hiles won the putting contest.

Closest to the pin on hole 9 was Tommy Fowler while Arnold Wilson was closest on hole 11.

The final tally of funds raised is not yet available since money is still coming in.

The Dechert family said they were thankful for the players, event sponsor Charlie Geren, hole-in-one sponsor Dr. O.Z. Helmer, and the 21 other sponsors that made the tourney a success.

All proceeds from this and future tournaments go toward making improvements and upgrades to Cross Timbers GC.
