Memorial Remembers Officer with Azle Ties

The Azle Police Department hosted a memorial service Monday, May 15, in Central Park, in observance of Police Officer Memorial Day. In addition to honoring fallen law enforcement officers everywhere, the service honored Abilene Police Officer Billy A. Rose, who died in a motorcycle crash while on duty in 1952. Insect Causes Rollover

A 17-year-old Azle High School student, driving himself and his 15-year-old sister to school Monday morning, May 3, was distracted when an insect landed on his hand. The young driver lost control of the blue 2001 Chevrolet Xtreme he was driving, which rolled onto its top, according to an accident report filed by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.
