Azle police took part in a statewide effort to honor fallen Houston Police Officer Darren Goforth Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. by displaying the flashing red and blue lights on their patrol vehicles. The Azle Police Department did so atop the highly visible Loop 344 bridge across SH 199 known locally as “the Ski Jump.” During the one-minute display of respect, the officers gathered near the center of the bridge in salute to the fallen officer. Motorists on the highway below honked in support.

Fifteen children and countless pets have died after being left in hot cars so far in 2015 across the United States, and three of those children died in Texas – one in Austin, one in Pecos, and one in Dallas.

Seven former AHS standouts will be inducted in October ceremony

After numerous meetings covering months, a committee has chosen the inductees for the first-ever Azle Sports Hall of Fame.
Seven of the best athletes to ever represent AHS – during their years at Azle and afterward – will be honored at the Hornet football game, Friday, October 23 against Denton High.
The magnificent seven:

•    Derek Dorris
•    Chelsa Holder
•    Dan Mauldin
•    Stan Mauldin
