Azle High School’s Marching Green Pride got a big surprise – just in time for its Indoor Drumline’s trip to World Championships in Dayton, Ohio – when several local businesses chipped in to have the band’s 18-wheeler digitally custom-wrapped. The band was summoned to the front of AHS Monday afternoon, April 6 as the made-over big rig pulled up, honking. The Indoor Drumline left Tuesday evening for Dayton with the newly-wrapped rig hauling equipment.

Reba Michelle Weigart, 24, of Azle, was critically injured about 6 p.m. Thursday, March 26 while riding a Moped-type scooter in the 11600 block of FM 730 North. According to the accident report filed by Azle police, Weigart was northbound when a southbound 2004 Fort F250 pickup driven by Brandon Dale Crosby, 24, of Azle, turned in front of her. Weigart’s scooter struck the pickup and she was ejected, landing on the roadway behind the pickup. AirEvac Life Team 68 transported Weigart to John Peter Smith Hospital. The roadway was closed in both directions for several hours as Azle police conducted an advanced investigation into the accident.… Read the rest

On Saturday, Feb. 21 came an Azle first: Two wrestlers won gold at the state tourney in Garland. First, sophomore Lauren Dale went unbeaten in the 138-pound class.
