State parks unaffected by federal shutdown

While the federal government wrestles with its shutdown, there is no such problem in Texas with its state parks.

“The welcome mat is still out at the more than 90 Texas state parks,” noted Texas Parks and Wildlife Department park operations manager Ron Hoelle.

He said the main office in Austin has been receiving calls since the Oct. 1 national shutdown about the state of Lone Star Parks.
