William Edward Briedwell passed away April 7, 2017 in McKinney, Texas.
Visitation will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. William will be laid to rest at Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle, Texas on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.

William was born May 3, 1938 in Durant, Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor’s in Physical Education and Master’s degree in Biology from the University of North Texas and spent his career doing what he loved. He taught and coached in La Feria, Texas, Moody High School in Corpus Christi Texas, Flour Bluff High School and Shimelpfenig Middle School in Plano. William was devoted to his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. After retirement, he traveled extensively, and spent time with family. He also participated in athletics with the Plano School District as the Stadium Supervisor and track-meet starter. He was a member of the Plano Retired Teachers Association.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bert Harry Briedwell; his mother, Lahoma Irene Dills Briedwell; and son-in-law Eric McBee.
He leaves behind his dear wife of 59 years, Virginia Ann “Jenne” (Carter) Briedwell; daughters, Lisa McBee, Dana White and husband David, Denise Maxwell and husband Nick, Jalah Goette and husband Eric. He will be greatly missed by his dear grandchildren, Taylor Haun and husband Mike, Ryan Terrasa, Kyle Maxwell and wife Amanda, Hannah White, Dylan Reichle and Luke Gotette; and great-grandchildren, Julian Terreau and Kami Haun.
