Robert J. “Bob” Lavender, 87, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014.
Services were held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at The Meeting Place at Ash Creek Baptist Church under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home. Interment was at New Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ash Creek Baptist Church.
Bob was born Dec. 11,1926 in Fort Worth to Leo Lester and Pearl Beasley Lavender. He graduated from North Side High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1953. He married the love of his life, Emma Lee Dunkin on Sept. 5, 1947. She preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2013. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army in World War II.
He was a Mason, a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club in Fort Worth and a member of the Society of Professional Engineers. Bob was a faithful member and deacon of Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Leota Garrison.
Survivors include son, Mike Lavender and wife, Ellen of North Richland Hills; daughter, Betsy Mulder and husband, Alan of Willow City; son, Craig Lavender and wife, Nancy of Azle; grandchildren; Micah Lavender, Melissa Lotspeich, Chris Mulder, Brandon Lavender and Lindsay Gray; nine great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.
