Elaine Burgess Davis, 55, was embraced by her Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in Fort Worth.
The service was held Saturday, Sept. 7, at Outreach of Love Church with burial at Whitt Cemetery in Whitt. Pallbearers were Bart Burgess, Bennie Davis, Frank Knight, David Lyons, Troy Pearson and Jerry Tucker. Her memory may be honored by donating to her favorite children’s missionary organization, OneHope, 600 Southwest Third Street, Pompano Beach, FL, 33060. The family gives special thanks to Vitas Hospice Center at Baylor All Saints Hospital for their extraordinary assistance and care given during her illness.
Elaine was born Sept. 14, 1957, to Jack and Juanita Burgess in Azle. She graduated from Azle High School in 1974 and attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Though a quadriplegic for 30 years, she was well-traveled, loved by and touched the lives of many people with her positive attitude. Church was a big part of her life. Elaine delighted in worshiping, and enjoyed singing with her beautiful voice. She was a light of joy to everyone around her and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was a tremendous wife, a phenomenal mother, and a loving grandmother. Her family and friends will best remember her for her wonderful sense of humor, her brilliant smile, her valiant courage and deep faith.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Jack Davis; daughter, Rochelle Davis; grandsons, Gabriel and Hayden Davis; father and step-mother, Jack and Shirley Burgess; brother and sister-in-law, Duane Burgess and Charice Mink; 19 nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives.
