Bobby Joe Blackman, 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7 at First United Methodist Church of Springtown, 109 West Third, Springtown. The family requests donations be made in Bobby Joe’s name to the First United Methodist Church of Springtown, P.O. Box 266, Springtown, 76082 or the charity of your choice.
Bob was born Sept. 6, 1938, to Clifton and Lucille Blackman. He worked for Bell Helicopter for 38 years and worked on the V22 before retiring in November, 2000. He loved fishing, camping and, in his spare time, he enjoyed wood working as a hobby.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Lucille Blackman; brother, Thomas Blackman: and beloved dog, Sammy Joe.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Polly Blackman; sons, Terry Blackman (Maria), Bobby Long (Missy) and David Long (Jamie); daughters, Brenda Miller (Eric), Kim Morter (David) and Jo Leta Smith (Rocky); brothers, William Blackman (Norma), Edward Blackman (Joyce) and Gary Blackman (Gloria); sister, Peggy Blackman; the mother of his children, Sue Corcoran; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and loyal dog, Jackson.
