Another look at aggravated robbery suspect

Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Terry Grisham today released another photo from surveillance cameras showing the suspect in an aggravated robbery that took place at the Briar convenience early Friday morning.

The clerk who was on duty at the time was reportedly struck in the head with an unknown object but has reported on the Azle News Facebook page that she is okay. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store’s register before fleeing in a dark-colored four-door sedan.… Read the rest

Briar store robbed; clerk assaulted

Police need your help locating the suspect in an aggravated robbery that occurred about 7:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5.

Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies were dispatched to the Briar Beer and Tobacco convenience store located at 14634 FM 730 North in Briar. According to TCSO spokesman Terry Grisham, a white male entered the store, assaulted the clerk and took an unknown amount of cash from the store’s cash register. The store surveillance video shows the actor fleeing the scene in a dark 4-door sedan displaying a third break light in the upper center back windshield.… Read the rest

Hornets fall to Canutillo, 17-10

The 2014 Azle football squad won more games than any other in AHS history, 11.
But the Hornets lost Saturday, Nov. 29 17-10 to Canutillo in Midland in the Region 1, Division 2 Regional game.
Both defenses were stellar.
Azle scored first in the second quarter on a short Chase Smith run.
But Canutillo tallied the next 17. Behind 17-7, Hornet kicker Dylan Tritton booted a field goal with less than a minute to play; AHS a trailed 17-10.… Read the rest

Hornets club Elks, Azle advances

The football Hornets used a 28-point third quarter to bury Burleson, win the Area round, and become the winningest team in AHS history with a 45-20 victory.
At Birdville’s ISD Fine Arts/ Athletic Complex, Azle (11-1) led 14-6 at halftime, a lead protected by a goal line stand.
Then came the big third period.
The Hornets will face Canutillo (11-1) at Midland’s Grande Communications Stadium Saturday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m.

Final tally in: Azle voters approve extension of street maintenance sales tax

The News went to press at 11 p.m. Tuesday night, just minutes before the final Azle precinct reported its returns for Proposition 1, renewing an existing one-fourth of one percent sales and use tax to fund maintenance and repairs to existing city streets. The News projected the measure would pass based on returns from four of the city’s five precincts.
