Two local youth achieved Eagle Scout status and were recently recognized at a Court of Honor at the Azle Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Tanner Scott Stutz and Zachary Scott Poteet, members of Troop 334, were honored Jan. 5.
Stutz met all the requirements for top Scout status – service hours, leadership necessities, merit badges, and an Eagle Scout project – to earn the honor.… Read the rest

Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Rich “Bubba” Terrett, a 1990 graduate of Azle High School, will retire from the United States Navy Feb. 28 after serving 24 years. Terrett served as an Electricians Mate for 10 years, and after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Leo University, was commissioned in the Navy Supply Corps via Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida in 2000. Terrett’s previous position was Aviation Support Officer (S-6) on board the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76). His other sea tour was Supply Officer USS Pioneer (MCM-9). During his enlisted time, he served on the USS Patriot (MCM-7) and USS Scout (MCM-8).… Read the rest

Joining in welcoming Zane are older brother Chandler Rhodes, age 7, and grandparents Marsha and Harold Worley and Cindy Rhodes-Hopp and Mike Hopp, all of Azle, and William Rhodes and Elana Thompson of Panama City, Florida.

Mike and Nell Judge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 27, 2014 with their family.
Nell is the former Nell Burnett of Azle. She was in the 8th grade when Mike was a senior at Azle High School
She attended a high school party with her older brother and sister. Mike was there and they danced almost every dance.

Courtney Meason, a sophomore from Azle, is among more than 1,200 students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the fall 2013 semester at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Larry Long, University provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship.

Lisa Marie Rollins, the daughter of Joe and Doris Rollins of Azle, and Jeffrey Robert Kastner, son of Debby and Louis Herndon of Arlington and Bruce and Barbara Kastner of Atlanta, Georgia, were married Nov. 16, 2013 in Crystal Beach.
The wedding and reception were held on the deck of Ashton Manor, a private home of mutual friends, with the Gulf of Mexico providing a sparkling backdrop. Grandparents of the bride-elect are Bill and Emma Goggans and the late Ross and Ruth Dignum. Grandparents of the prospective groom are Ava Robertson, the late Pete Robertson and Joe and Norma Guest. The bride-elect graduated from Azle High School in 2008; she graduated from Southern Methodist University with degrees in vocal performance and music education. The prospective groom graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in mechanical engineering.
