Brooke was born March 13 at 8:02 a.m. weighing 6 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 20 inches. Brooke’s grandparents are Jeff and Anna Raymond of Azle and Shawna Maley.

100 Years Young

Bonnie Dell Davis Walter turned 100 years old on March 6. More than 100 friends and family members gathered to celebrate Saturday, March 8, at First Baptist Church Lakeside. Bonnie was presented with a proclamation from Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price’s office and entertained attendees with poems she had written for the occasion. Guests autographed fabric squares which will be made into a quilt to commemorate the event.

Will and Jamie Reed of Azle announce the Dec. 21, 2013 birth of their daughter, Whitley Kim Reed at Texas Health Harris Southwest Hospital in Fort Worth. She weighed 9 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 22 inches. Whitley has three older brothers: Benton, age 5, Wyatt, age 3 and Wayne, age 2. Her grandparents are Mollie and Bill Reed of Azle and Kim Anderson of Azle. Great-grandfather is Danny Chilton of Fort Worth.

Larry Moore and Eva McGee of Azle are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Lorraine Moore, to James Richard Perkins, son of Richard and Jonna Perkins of Azle. The bride-elect is a graduate of NLS in Fort Worth and is the office manager at Access Midstream in Fort Worth. The prospective groom is a graduate of Azle High School and is the general manager of Domino’s Pizza in Saginaw. The couple plans to wed Aug. 23 in Weatherford and will enjoy a seven-day honeymoon cruise to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico.

Azle ISD recently hosted the K-4 District Science Fair.
Winners from each of the K-4 campuses – Eagle Heights, Liberty, Cross Timbers, Silver Creek and Walnut Creek – presented their projects to local judges comprised of science teachers and a volunteer from Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle.

Stutz, Poteet now Eagle Scouts

Two local youth achieved Eagle Scout status and were recently recognized at a Court of Honor at the Azle Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Tanner Scott Stutz and Zachary Scott Poteet, members of Troop 334, were honored Jan. 5.
Stutz met all the requirements for top Scout status – service hours, leadership necessities, merit badges, and an Eagle Scout project – to earn the honor.

Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Rich “Bubba” Terrett, a 1990 graduate of Azle High School, will retire from the United States Navy Feb. 28 after serving 24 years. Terrett served as an Electricians Mate for 10 years, and after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Leo University, was commissioned in the Navy Supply Corps via Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida in 2000. Terrett’s previous position was Aviation Support Officer (S-6) on board the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76). His other sea tour was Supply Officer USS Pioneer (MCM-9). During his enlisted time, he served on the USS Patriot (MCM-7) and USS Scout (MCM-8).… Read the rest

Mike and Nell Judge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 27, 2014 with their family.
Nell is the former Nell Burnett of Azle. She was in the 8th grade when Mike was a senior at Azle High School
She attended a high school party with her older brother and sister. Mike was there and they danced almost every dance.
Mike attended UTA before joining the United States Army. Nell didn’t see him again until the summer before her senior year.

Meason named to Harding dean’s list

Courtney Meason, a sophomore from Azle, is among more than 1,200 students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the fall 2013 semester at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Larry Long, University provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship.
To be eligible, a student must carry 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.
