The weather has been so nice and the park has been full of young folks and families playing at the new disc golf course the city put in Ask Creek Park recently.
I’ve spoken with some of them and they say it’s the best one around.

This has been a busy week for the seniors. We’re wrapping up the end of October and Friday is November 1 and also Food Bank Day.

We’ve been renewing everyone’s paperwork beginning Oct. 1. We’ve also been getting some new people in and they seem to really be enjoying it.

Lauderdale part of HSU Court

Azle High School graduate Jessica Lauderdale was part of the Hardin-Simmons University Homecoming court Oct. 13.

Lauderdale, a senior who plans to begin graduate work in the fall of 2014, was one of four women contesting for Queen.

The daughter of Greg and Jennifer Lauderdale, Jessica is a social work major and currently is a member of the South Side Baptist Church college ministry team in Abilene.… Read the rest

Local students receive honors at Texas A&M

October 2, 2013

Two local students achieved scholastic recognition from Texas A&M for their performance during the summer session.

Shawn C. Morgan, from Azle, qualified for the Dean’s Honor Roll by maintaining an average of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale for at least 12 hours. Morgan is working toward a bachelor of business administration – accounting degree.

Springtown’s Abigail Lamont, seeking a bachelor of science – psychology degree, landed on the Distinguished list. That requires a GPA of 3.5 to 3.74 for 12 or more hours.… Read the rest

Garners celebrate 60 years of marriage

Ray and Shirley Garner celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 31 at the Azle VFW with a dinner and dance hosted by their children and spouses.

The Garners were married in 1953 in Wichita, Kansas by Reverend Irving Conradson.

They made their first home in Wichita – a furnished apartment that cost about $15 a week.… Read the rest

Jeff and Lori Griffin of Azle are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitnie to Zach Stinnett, son of Bobby and Marcy Stinnett of Magnolia.  Whitnie graduated from homeschooling in 2003 and is currently employed at Trinity Bible Church in Willow Park as the Preschool Children’s Minister.  Zach graduated from Tomball High School in 2000 after previously serving four years on staff at Teen Challenge Ministries in Azle.
