A five-county competition revolves around pecans.
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Services offices of Parker, Wise, Palo Pinto, Jack, and Wise Counties will conduct a pecan show Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Exhibitors are limited to one entry of each variety they grow.
Growers may enter seedlings, known hybrids, or natives as they wish.
All entries must detail which county they come from with a minimum of 40 pecans making up an entry – 42 is preferred.… Read the rest

Monte and Debra Moore of Azle announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Heather Johnston to Gary Chambers, son of Gary and Tammy Chambers of Palmdale, California. The couple will wed at 1 p.m. March 1, 2014 at Chapel Dulcinea in Buda. Following the wedding, the couple will reside in San Marcos. The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Azle High School and is currently employed as an RN in Seguin. The weather has been so nice and the park has been full of young folks and families playing at the new disc golf course the city put in Ask Creek Park recently.
I’ve spoken with some of them and they say it’s the best one around.
