A memorial service for Mr. Ira Slayden Edwards will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Ira.
As a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII; Ira loved gardening and fishing. But more than anything, he loved his family, especially his grandkids, great- grandkids and his little yorkie, Raini. Ruben Flores 1965 – 2017

Ruben Flores, 51, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, Feb. 10, 2017.
Funeral services were held, Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 in Alexander’s Midway Chapel. Burial followed at Springtown Cemetery.
Vincent was born Nov. 13, 1965 in San Antonio to Jose M. and Guadalupe Cortinas Flores. They both preceded him in death along with his siblings, Pedro, Elida, Arthur, Jerry and Macario. Vincent was a mechanic and worked at T. J.’s Machine shop in Azle.
Survivors include his son, Vincent; and Vincent’s mother, Tami Reyna and her husband, Saul; siblings, Julian, Jospehine, Lucy, Janie, Rachel, Elva, Emily and Joe.… Read the rest

Jerry Don Womack 1937 – 2017

Jerry Don Womack, 79, passed away peacefully at home Feb. 9, 2017, a few days shy of his 80th birthday.
Friends and family were invited to Biggers Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. to pay their respects to such a loving and caring husband, father, father-n-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor and friend to so many.
Jerry will be laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery with a private family ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider making a donation to the “Jerry and Helen Womack Scholarship” at Tarrant County College which can benefit only graduates of Azle High School who wish to further their education at the NW Campus of TCC.… Read the rest

Leila Laurelle Sharp Morris was born March 14, 1924 in Augusta Georgia.

Don E. Fowler, 72, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at Azle Christian Church under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery.

Don was born Feb. 26, 1944 to Leslie Eugene and Eudora Carter Fowler in South Carolina.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Don was a police officer in Benbrook and served as a reserve police officer and volunteer firefighter in Azle. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.… Read the rest

Service: Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Azle. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Biggers Funeral Home. Burial: Private with full military honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Bettie Lee Tipton Huffer, 86, passed away peacefully, Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at home surrounded by those that loved her.
Service is private.
Bettie was born Sept. 8, 1930 in Admore, Maryland to Melvin Edward and Dorothy Irene Davis Tipton. They both preceded her in death along with her husband, Francis Wade Huffer, Sr. and daughter, Terry Tippett.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary Tipton, Sharon LaPlant and Barbara Huffer; sons, Wade and Larry Huffer; sister, Rita Jones; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Sherwood Allen “Woody” Gray, 77 a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017.
Graveside service is at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Sherwood was born March 6, 1939 in Glover, Vermont to Roland and Virginia Thompson Gray. They both preceded him in death along with two brothers, Stanley and Sherman Gray.
He proudly served in the Army National Guard, the US Air Force and was a machinist for over 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Tammy (David) Jernigan, Scott Gray, Leigh Ward, Weldon Ward and Shannon (Robert) Mayon; sister, Shirley (Jim) Lyles; brother, Stewart (Dianna) Gray; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.… Read the rest

Hugh Marvin Chapman, 77, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 6 at White’s Azle Chapel. Interment was in Hoggard-Reynolds Cemetery.
Hugh was born April 28, 1939 in Houston to Wilber James and Winnie Ruth Gage Chapman. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Hugh was a 32nd degree Mason with the Houston Lodge and had attended First Baptist Church of Azle.

James “Wes” Winstead 1966 – 2017

James Wesley “Wes” Winstead passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at the age of 50.
Wes was laid to rest Friday, Jan. 27, 2017. Services were held at Biggers Funeral Home and interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Wes was a longtime resident of Azle and Springtown Texas. He graduated from Springtown High School in 1984. He was the previous owner of Springtown Feed and Fertilizer, Winstead Trucking and Azle Paint and Body.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Shawn; daughter, Morgan of Springtown; parents, James and Marsha of Azle and numerous other family and friends.
