Ruth Carlisle Bunch, 93, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Union Cemetery, Gustine, under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White’s Funeral Home.
Ruth was born Aug. 21, 1923 in Hamilton County to Robert Edward and Bettie Ann Essary Perkins.
She was preceded in death by four great-grandsons, Blake Don Erwin, and Zachary Downs of Saginaw and Devin and Dylan Carlisle of Olympia, Washington.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara Carlisle Duncan of Azle; son, Wayne Carlisle and wife, Joann of White Settlement; six grandchildren and their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; several extended family members, neighbors, and friends.… Read the rest
Betty Henson Jennings, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 after a brief illness.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a Christian lady of great character who had a zest for living.
Betty was born Sept. 27, 1929 in Chillicothe to Claude Herman and Ora Alice Henson. After spending much of her childhood in Fayetteville, Arkansas, she graduated from Winslow (Arizona) High School in 1947.
She attended Northern Idaho College of Education in Lewiston, and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Winslow and Phoenix before enrolling at Abilene Christian College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1953.… Read the rest
Darrenn Austin Plaunty of Azle passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016.
A celebration of life was held Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Biggers Funeral Home in Lake Worth.
Darrenn was born Aug. 26, 1959 in San Diego, California. He lived in Azle for the last 21 years.
He was an exceptional cook, and especially exceptional with tools. Some of Darrenn’s biggest rewards were coaching baseball when his sons were smaller, and as an Azle band parent. He was that one guy who would help you if you were stranded on the side of the road, or give you his last dollar.… Read the rest
Gerald Lamont Shinn, 79, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, in Fort Worth.
Funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, where husband, father and friend, Gerald Shinn, was laid to rest. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood.
Gerald was born in Tyronza, Ark., on Aug. 26, 1937, to George and Mary Shinn.
Gerald was very active in Azle civic affairs. He was on the board of the Azle Pastoral Counseling Center and honorary member of the Azle FFA. Also, he was chairman of one of the fund-raising committees of the Eagle Mountain Area Suburban Hospital (now Harris, Texas Health Resource of Azle.)
He was a charter member of the Azle Sertoma Club, which was founded in 1972.… Read the rest
Hugh C. Bryant Jr., 88, retired government inspector, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016. Hugh was a loving husband, brother, uncle, veteran, pilot, helicopter inspector, ham radio operator, animal lover and Dallas Cowboys fan. He’ll be missed more than he could imagine. Funeral Mass: Services were held last Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, in Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society of North Texas.
Hugh was born at home in Fort Worth Aug. 13, 1928, to Clara and Hugh C. Bryant Sr. He graduated from Laneri Catholic High School in May 1945, one of eight in his graduating class.… Read the rest
Henry Holbrook, 86, loving father, grandfather and friend, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016.
Graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 31 at Azleland Mausoleum under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home.
Henry was born in Olney to Vergil Sealah and Zora Frances Daniels Holbrook. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Henry retired from the Fort Worth I.S.D. after working there for 29 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; and brothers, Earl and JB Holbrook.
Survivors include daughters, Aileen Frantz and husband, Felton, Cindi Reznicek and husband, Larry, and Barbara Hollinsworth; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Virgil Holbrook; and several nieces and nephews.… Read the rest
George Arthur Morris passed away Oct. 28, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. A visitation will be held Nov. 3, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Lake Worth. Service will be held Nov. 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church 8801 Jacksboro Hwy, Lakeside, Texas 76135.

Thomas Loar, one of eight children, was born Sept. 22, 1926 in Fort Worth, Texas to Raymond and Thelma Loar. He died peacefully on Oct. 23, 2016, at the age of 90 at his home in Azle, Texas, surrounded by his family.
Tom was a veteran of World War II, where he was a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Killen, a destroyer that was one of a group of ships that was instrumental in sinking the Yamashiro, which was a turning point in the war. He was also a Navy veteran of the Korean War. After the Korean War, Tom went to work for ADT and retired from there after 41 years.… Read the rest
Brent Leonard passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2016 at his home on Eagle Mountain Lake, in Azle. He was 69 years old.
Brent was born on Aug. 6, 1947 in Elmira, New York. Brent always had a funny story to share about how he and his friends spent their teenage years. One of his most famous stories was about driving the infamous “chicken-car”. Brent always had a kind word to say about everyone he knew or met. He was genuinely a nice person and will be missed by those who knew him and loved him.
