Sherwood “Woody” Gray 1939 – 2017

Sherwood Allen “Woody” Gray, 77 a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017.
Graveside service is at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Sherwood was born March 6, 1939 in Glover, Vermont to Roland and Virginia Thompson Gray. They both preceded him in death along with two brothers, Stanley and Sherman Gray.
He proudly served in the Army National Guard, the US Air Force and was a machinist for over 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Tammy (David) Jernigan, Scott Gray, Leigh Ward, Weldon Ward and Shannon (Robert) Mayon; sister, Shirley (Jim) Lyles; brother, Stewart (Dianna) Gray; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.… Read the rest

Hugh Marvin Chapman 1939 – 2017

Hugh Marvin Chapman, 77, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 6 at White’s Azle Chapel. Interment was in Hoggard-Reynolds Cemetery.
Hugh was born April 28, 1939 in Houston to Wilber James and Winnie Ruth Gage Chapman. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Hugh was a 32nd degree Mason with the Houston Lodge and had attended First Baptist Church of Azle.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Chapman; sons, Michael Chapman and wife, Bianca, Terry Chapman and wife, Kristie; daughters, Michelle Stamey and husband, Timothy Matheson and Shanelle Chapman; brother, John Ray Chapman; sister, Eilene Friesz ; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.… Read the rest

James “Wes” Winstead 1966 – 2017

James Wesley “Wes” Winstead passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at the age of 50.
Wes was laid to rest Friday, Jan. 27, 2017. Services were held at Biggers Funeral Home and interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Wes was a longtime resident of Azle and Springtown Texas. He graduated from Springtown High School in 1984. He was the previous owner of Springtown Feed and Fertilizer, Winstead Trucking and Azle Paint and Body.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Shawn; daughter, Morgan of Springtown; parents, James and Marsha of Azle and numerous other family and friends.

Margaret Mary “Peggy” McGough, 101, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, surrounded by her devoted and loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Azle. Burial is at Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Biggers Funeral Home with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities or a charity of your choice.
Peggy was born Jan. 15, 1916 in Wigan, Lancashire, England to Thomas and Gertrude Flynn; she was raised in Chicago, and married Patrick Francis McGough.… Read the rest

Bonita J. Alaniz, 66, went to be with our Lord Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 in Weatherford, Texas.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd with burial in Azleland Cemetery in Azle, Texas. Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pastor Victor Sullivan will officiate. Pallbearers include Russell Cole, Kenneth Cole, Steven Ballejo, Billy Fowler, Phillip Dooley, and Brandon Lyles.
Bonita was born on Feb. 21, 1950 to Joe Ben and Thelma Mae (Wood) Darter in Fort Worth, Texas. Bonita worked for Tandy Electronics as an assembly line leader for many years.… Read the rest

Evelyn Ruth Stephens passed away Jan. 22, 2017 in Weatherford with her family by her side.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, 102 Lakeridge Road, Fort Worth, Texas.
Evelyn was born in Granbury on Oct. 26, 1949. She attended Azle schools. She worked as a police dispatcher and court clerk in Samson Park and Springtown as well as serving as a Municipal Judge in Pelican Bay.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister, brother and her daughter Cherylene Farquhar.
She is survived by her daughter, Charolette McCune and her husband Jason; her sons, Michael Brumbelow and his wife, Ann; Eric Robinson and his wife, Laura and Eddie Robinson and his fiancée, Rita Minniear; sister, Paula Taylor; brother, Chris Pender; 14 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.… Read the rest

On Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 Susan Hester went to be with God and join her beloved parents Leonidas and Hortez Shockley.
Memorial services were held Jan. 31 at Gospel Gathering Fellowship under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home.
Susan was born in Cisco the youngest of three children. She grew up in San Antonio and attended Alamo Heights High School. She was a graduate of University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston and was a dental hygienist and retired in 2014. She made incredible counted cross-stich stockings for her kids and grandkids (always with that “one” mistake- sorry mom, we had to mention it!) Susan also enjoyed time in the garden.… Read the rest

Tommy Cooley, 78, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017.
Memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at White’s Azle Chapel.
Tommy was born Jan. 7, 1939 to Cecil Doyle and Phama Geer Cooley.
He was employed for 30 years at M.I.C.A. Construction and was a foreman when he retired. Tommy loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Tommy enjoyed watching western movies, being outdoors and dearly loved being with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Cooley; daughters, Cynthia Sisk and husband, Rodney, Denise Mallonee, Shelly Carpenter and husband, Brad, Jennifer Beckwith and husband, Tommy, and Tiffany Cooley; sister, Vanita Purdy; ten grandkids; eight great-grandkids; and several nieces, nephews and extended loving family.… Read the rest

Service was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Eagle Mountain Baptist Church, with Rev. David Cecil and Rev. Gerry Lewis officiating. Burial: Azleland Cemetery. Visitation: The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Biggers Funeral Home.

Kerry Don Bigbee, 80 went home to be with his Lord, Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at a Burleson care center.
Burial will be held at a later date in Springtown Cemetery, next to his son, Damon Bigbee.
Kerry was born May 31, 1936 in Fort Worth to Ross Edward Bigbee and Juanita Patty Murr. They both preceded him in death.
