Looking snappy in their white uniforms modeled after the New York Jets, the football Hornets turned in an impressive performance Sept. 5.
At the annual Dale Hansen Classic in Waxahachie, Azle (2-0) stymied Red Oak in every way, and AHS left with a 48-6 win – and a gold football.

It’s football time in Texas again, and the Hornets will begin the 2014 season with two-a-day practices Monday, Aug. 11.
Azle, again led by Devon Dorris, will hit the field for two weeks then will play its only scrimmage, at home against Burleson Friday, Aug. 22.
After school starts Monday, Aug. 25, practices move to after school.
The varsity Hornets have a quirky schedule this year.
Azle opens at home against Granbury Friday, Aug. 29 then will play just one more home game until Oct. 17.

Three Azle High softball players were named Academic All-State.
Seniors Katelyn Carpenter, Kayleen Corn, and Whitney Judd all maintained a GPA of 94 or above, were in good standing, and of good moral character.

July 22-24 – Volleyball: Session I, grades 3-6, 9-11 a.m., $60. Session II, grades 7-8, noon-3 p.m., $65. Session III, grade 9, 2-5 p.m. $70.
July 29-Aug. 1 – Girls basketball: Session I for grades 1-4, 8-9 a.m., $20. Session II for grade 5-7, 9:30-noon, $60. Session III for grades 8-9, 1-4 p.m., $65. $5 increase after July 1.
Aug. 1-3 – Advanced volleyball. Grades 9-12. $65. Aug. 1, 5-9 p.m. Aug. 2-3, 9 a.m.-noon. Deadline June 28.

A slew of Azle Karate for Kids athletes were state and district champs.
Madison Schultz took the state title in combat weapons.
Bailey Baker was crowned the best in Texas in creative weapons and Xtreme weapons.
Mykayla Sardina won state in creative weapons and creative forms.
Mark Baca, a fourth degree black belt, took state in Xtreme weapons, creative forms, Xtreme forms, and creative forms.
District champs included:
