May 8, 2013

A pair of top notch Azle High athletes are bound for Austin to compete Friday, May 10 against the top jumpers and vaulters in Texas. And both have a solid chance to medal. High jumper Elisha Peters (right) arrives at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus with the third best regional jump in the state at 5 feet, 6 inches. However, she cleared 5-9-plus at the same UT venue at the Texas Relays in March – by far the top 4A height in the state. Pole vaulter Sarah Hall and two others cleared 12-0 at their regional meets; Hall’s Region I mate Lakan Taylor is tops in Texas at 13-7. Hall holds the school record at 12-6 – a height that could be solid enough to snag a medal at the prestigious state event.
