Scott wins top collegiate honor

Former Lady Hornet Kayla Scott was named to the American Southwest Conference Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2012-13 season.
Scott, a four-year basketball letterman at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, played in 91 games for the Lady Jackets over her career.
To achieve a berth on the elite list, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher while competing as a starter or an important reserve.
Scott was one of 106 athletes to be named to the team.
While at HPU, she finished with 440 points that included a .297 career percentage from three-point range where she hit 79 buckets.
Four times in her career, Scott made a quartet of treys in one game.
Her high-point game was 23 against East Texas Baptist, a feat that earned her the ASC West Division Player of the Week.
She was a three-time Academic All-Conference selection.
Scott collected her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education and just completed her MBA.
