The Azle Lions Club is looking for volunteers to assemble backpacks together Saturday, July 20, from 8 a.m.-12 noon, at the Lions Club building located at 412 Commerce Street in Azle.
It’s all in preparation for the Lions’ “Back the Pack” sale Saturday, Aug. 3.
All the supplies a child needs for grades pre-kindergarten through 6 are contained in a heavy-duty back pack customized for each grade throughout the Azle ISD.
Purchases enable the Lions Club to provide free backpacks to students identified by AISD staff as economically challenged.
Free back backs will not be distributed at the Aug. 3 event.
Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities/Pre-Kindergarten backpacks will be sold for $50; kindergarten packs are $45; grades 1-4 packs are $50; grade 5 packs are $55; and grade 6 packs are $60.
This project and sale mixes convenience with economic pricing and charity.
A limited number of completely school-ready backpacks are available and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
