ESD1 seeking board applicants

May 22, 2013

The Parker County Commissioners Court is looking for applicants to fill a single vacancy on the Emergency Services District (ESD) 1 board.

Towns covered by ESD1 include Springtown, LaJunta, Silver Creek, Peaster, and following the May 11 election, Aledo.

Interested persons should submit a resume and brief cover letter detailing interest to Parker County judge project coordinator Joel Kertok at esdresumes@gmail.com.

The application deadline is May 31; the court will make the appointment sometime in June at a meeting.

Judge Mark Riley said, “This seat has been held open as we waited to see the results of the recent EDS1 election that took in the Aledo VFD area.”

Requirements include being at least 18 years old, eligible to vote, and living or owning land in Parker County.

ESD boards are five-person entities appointed by Commissioners Courts, selected with staggered terms.

An ESD board sets tax rates and the budget for the district.

Other duties include holding monthly meetings; keeping minutes and records of its proceedings; and filing reports with authorized authorities.
