Helping to fill the refrigerators at the Community Caring Center food bank in Azle are (l-r) Dale Wallace, Nicole Okubo, Sherry DeWeese, Donna Russell and Linda Biron. Visit www.azlecares.org for more information about the center and the upcoming Taste Tour event on April 27.

Help take a bite out of hunger while enjoying Tastes From Around the World at the 2013 Taste Tour, benefiting the Community Caring Center in Azle. The event is slated for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Satsurday, April 27 in Thousand Oaks Estates.

Advance tickets are $25 each and may be purchased at the Community Caring Center office, Brookshire’s, Azle Dental Care and Comet Cleaners. Tickets may also be bought the day of the tour for $30 each.

The Taste Tour offers a “sneak peek” into a half dozen of Azle’s most beautiful and luxurious homes, where tour-goers will be treated to special culinary creations served up by chefs from area restaurants and catering companies.

The event is held annually, with proceeds benefiting the CCC.

Because the CCC employs a part-time executive director and an assistant, both on minimal salaries, and all other activities are performed by a volunteer staff, this year’s proceeds will go toward the hiring of a part-time social worker to help clients access other charitable and government resources and to develop new ways for the CCC to serve the needs of the poor in the community.

Chefs who have confirmed for the 2013 Taste Tour so far include Gwin Grimes of Artisan Baking Company; Janet Z. Capua of Z’s Café; Julia Dunaway of Julia Dunaway Personal Chef Services; Kevin Martinez of Tokyo Café; Anthony Aguillon of La Choza Mexican Grill; and Lisa Wright of Living Wright at Home Personal Chef Services.

In keeping with the international theme for this year’s event, each chef will prepare a food from a different part of the world. Countries represented will include Spain, France, Korea, Japan, Mexico and Italy.
