The city of Reno water supply comes from wells, but those sources are getting low.
So Reno public works director Scott Passmore suggests residents consider restrictions that closely follow the Stage 1 water determents initiated by Tarrant Regional Water District that began June 3.
Right now, the Reno effort is voluntary, but should the water situation deteriorate, mandatory restrictions will follow.
Passmore said outdoor watering is limited to twice weekly with “hose-end sprinklers and automatic irrigations systems.”
Specific days of the week are not noted, however.
The same TRWD time frame that forbids watering remains in effect in Reno, too – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
And the city mirrors the district’s permission of using hand or soaker hoses anytime, any day of the week.
Passmore said if levels drop more, Stage 2 would be implemented which requires mandatory measures.
“Remember folks,” Passmore said, “We’re all in this together. We are hoping this will reduce water use by at least five percent over what we would normally use.”
Those with questions should call him at Reno City Hall 817-221-2500.
