Garden tour guarantees an afternoon of sheer delight
by Carla Noah Stutsman
Attention gardeners, non-gardeners, people with gardens, people without gardens, people who want gardens, and, well… everyone else.
The Green Scene 2013 Azle Garden Tour is coming up fast.
Benefiting the beautification of Azle’s Main Street, the much anticipated event runs from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 and will begin on Broadway Road.
The tour features five beautiful, private gardens brimming with lush plantings and ideas sure to inspire gardeners and non-gardeners alike.
Two of the gardens are sophisticated designs located on the shores of Eagle Mountain Lake; one is a heavily wooded English-style garden, and the remaining two gardens offer hilltop views and outdoor entertaining areas.
In addition, this year tour-goers can purchase garden décor items – many are handmade. Like: tall glassware solar lights, pre-planted lightweight concrete pots (made by tour volunteers), weatherproof baskets made from discarded garden hoses, broken china mosaics, rustic plant stands and lanterns with candles, just to name a few.
To complete the afternoon of complete garden enjoyment and relaxation, tour volunteers will also have sack lunches available for purchase, featuring gourmet homemade chicken salad wraps and chipotle pimiento cheese sandwiches, plus veggies and beverage – all for $5.
Tickets for the tour are $15 each, and will be drawn for a door prize donated by Queen Bee’s Garden.
Tickets are available at the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce and Queen Bee’s Garden.
